Prakash Almeida

Founder-Director

Dear Friend,

I welcome you to the Institute of Economic Education.

IEE is the first of its kind independent think-tank engaged in public education. We at IEE are committed to take economic and environmental literacy to more and more people to build knowledge-capacity for individual and community level leadership.

We understand that the darkness of ignorance is overwhelming. But we believe in lighting a candle than to curse the darkness.

We have firm faith in our people. If they are made adequately aware of their self-interests, they will make right choices. They have demonstrated it time and again.

In a democracy informed public opinion is the key to its survival and growth. It is a sad fact that there is no focussed, committed effort to educate public mind on vital socio-economic issues to enable them to make right choices. IEE aspires to fulfill this need. Academic education given in school and colleges and even at the University level is found to be exam foucssed. At least, students study from exam point of view. Students do not develop critical knowledge base and capacity building found missing.

IEE's course in Economic & Environment Literacy (with a special course module on Water Literacy) aims at capacity building through practical knowledge.

We are confident that this will empower people with knowledge.

Feel free to send your suggestions.  We shall welcome them all.

We expect you to acquire knowledge and work as 'Knowledge Workers'. Take this knowledge to more and more people, use it wherever you can, for the benefit of more and more people. Use to educate people around you. Lit as many candles as possible.

India is currently rediscovering her destiny as a great emerging power. The real power resides in people with usable knowledge.

I once again welcome you to benefit from all that IEE has to offer.
